  • Features

Strength: sides and spine are made of low-resin basswood for superior stacking strength

Protection: tops of these boxes have a lip that helps keep out air-borne contaminates, while the thick walls of the case provide truly outstanding physical protection for its contents. When closed the box is sealed on all sides.

Usability: the spine of the case is hinged so that the top can fold open and lay completely flat for easy removal of contents

Durable: the heavyweight, acrylic-coated black cloth cover assures a long-lasting service life. Sturdy latches that open down to protect artwork, are designed to withstand repeated opening and closing. A metal label holder accepts a standard 3 x 1-1/4" label. All hardware is nickel-plated.

History: naturalist Daniel Solander, traveling with Captain Cook in the South Seas in the 1760s, constructed a book-shaped case to hold the manuscript records and specimens of the voyage. The Solander box has been around for over 250 years and our Solander Cases are of the highest quality.
